Jump Your Way to Better Health

The amazing benefits of jumping on a rebounder by MaryAnn Jones

I have been attending Jump classes with Emily Tyson for almost five years now! I still remember my first class. I was curious and nervous about how I was going to be able to follow along and stay on the trampoline. Even though those first classes felt awkward and unsure I was having fun. There is something so freeing about defying gravity. I always say jumping makes me feel tall ( I am 5’-0”) and young (57, my actual age). I could go on about my personal experience but I encourage you to try it for yourself. Below are some of the benefits you can expect if you jump in!

Low-Impact Cardiovascular Workout

  • Jumping on a rebounder gets your heart rate up, improves circulation, and strengthens your cardiovascular system without placing excessive strain on your body
  • Minimal impact on your joints—the rebounder absorbs a significant portion of the shock, reducing stress on your ankles, knees, and hips

A NASA study found that 10 minutes of jumping on a trampoline is the equivalent of a 30-minute run.

Improved Balance and Strength

  • According to a study published in the Journal of Sports Science and Medicine, rebounding exercises activate the abdominal and back muscles, promoting core strength and balance
  • Maintaining balance and coordination is essential for overall stability and preventing injuries

Enhanced Lymphatic System

  • Your lymphatic system plays a vital role in eliminating toxins and waste from your body
  • Rebounding stimulates the lymphatic flow, promoting detoxification and improving the efficiency of your immune system
  • As you bounce up and down, the rhythmic movement helps to flush out toxins and increase the circulation of lymphatic fluid, ultimately boosting your body’s ability to fight off infections and illnesses

According to a study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, rebounding can increase lymphatic flow by up to 15 times compared to resting.

Boost Metabolism

  • The increased muscle engagement during the jumping motion helps to build lean muscle mass, which boosts your metabolism and fat-burning potential even after your workout

Fun and Versatile Exercise

  • Exercise can be joyful
  • Rebounding offers a fun and playful way to get fit
  • It allows you to channel your inner child and experience the joy of bouncing
